No doubt about it Salomon makes a great shoe. No break-in time needed, comfortable right out of the box. First time out, went about 6 miles in 80 degree weather--No sore spots or rub areas. Good support and good tread on bottoms. They definately run about a half size big. Most shoes I wear a 9, so that is what I ordered and they are a little big--I think and 8.5 would have been fine. So if I wear them with my custom orthotics (they take up a little extra room) they feel fine--a little roomy but that's okay especially in warmer weather. Also love the color and the style.

This is the 4th pair of Salomon shoes that I've purchased. All are extreemly comfortable with great arch support and a wide toe box. I purchased this last pair a few days before a planned trip to Ecuador, as I wanted a new pair for doing some hiking in the Andes and didn't have room to take hiking boots. The shoes were extreemly comfortable and worked great on the trails. The friend that I traveled with ended up with very painful big toes from the downhill portions of our hikes. She was in misery until I loaned her my new Salomon shoes to wear for a few days after our hiking was done. She wears the same size shoe as me and the large toe box allowed her painful toes enough room so that they healed. She plans to replace her old shoes with a pair of Salomon's.

These shoes are my second in their line of trail runners. They have been great during the snow and muddy seasons running coupled with stabilizers. Easy to slip on and off, comfortable and they have good traction. My only one complaint is that during the run, the lacing system becomes loose on its own and requires tightening to remain snugly supportive.
