Product Description
The "WP" in the Keen Alamosa WP Hiking Shoe for men stands for "Waterproof," although sometimes we refer to it as "wonderfully perfect"--especially on muddy trails and in dew-kissed meadows. This light hiking shoe is less like a mesh running shoe and more like a boot/shoe hybrid, which is perfect for anyone feeling overexposed wearing the lightweight trail shoes based on running shoes. The waterproof and breathable Nubuck leather upper design is great for damp trails when the rains stop, but the low-slung profile might require pairing the Keen Alamosa WP Hiking Shoe with a gaiter for long walks in the rain. This durable design is also great for summertime camping in rain forests and tropical spaces. Keen notes that their Alamosa WP Hiking Shoe for men fits fairly close to actual foot sizes, but if you're in between, opt for going up a half-size for the right fit.

By Andrew J. Kinney
I love this shoe. Great shoe, great price. It is perfect for dry conditions hiking, and I have even used it on the AT with expedition weight Smartwool socks when it was a little damp. Very comfortable right out of the box - apparently no break-in period is required. I got the waterproof version which is definitely waterproof, but being low-cut, this is more applicable to keeping dew from soaking through the uppers than walking in a stream. One small quibble - the soft foam rubber that makes it so comfortable is exposed on the sides, so if you run into a sharp object (I snagged mine on the head of a nail), it can take a chunk out of it. Keen would have been wise to cover the soft sides with the same type of material as the black rubber sole. But again, that's a quibble. I use the use the shoes for plain old walking as well, and for working out in the yard.

These are comfortable shoes, especially for someone with a wide foot. They are comfortable for walking and they keep the dew out! Can't ask for much more.

Worn two time on long hikes. Very comfortable shoe with good support. Good traction on all types of terrain. So far no problems with feet.
